The Official 2026 Unity Game Jam: dates, rules and a Unity workflow
By the Cosindra team · Updated October 28, 2026
The Official 2026 Unity Game Jam is a week-long jam hosted by Unity on itch.io: the theme is revealed on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 17:00 UTC, and the submission deadline is Saturday, November 14, 2026, 12:00 UTC. "All games should be created in the Unity Game Engine." Generated content is allowed in any part of a game if you disclose how you used it on your submission page; without that disclosure a game cannot win a prize.
This guide quotes the jam page we read on October 28, 2026. The Official Rules it links were not published yet (the page said "(link coming soon)"), so we could not read them and nothing here comes from them. Then it shows what Cosindra makes for a Unity project today, what is free and what costs credits. We build Cosindra, so weigh what we say about it with that in mind. Nothing here is legal advice. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Unity Technologies.
The dates
The deadline is one global moment, and the page says "under absolutely no circumstances will we allow late submissions!" The page recommends finishing by midnight at the end of your seventh jam day and keeping the time after that, which it calls The Buffer, for packaging, uploading and your submission page.
- The schedule gives community rating as November 14 to 28, while the voting section describes "a 5-day community voting period". Follow the timer on the jam page.

Who can enter
- "We are inviting all Unity Developers across the world to join and jam with us." Select "Join jam" on the itch.io page.
- Teams of 1 to 5 people, one submission per team. "You may form a team before the jam starts."
- Prize eligibility "may be restricted in some territories. See the rules." Those rules were not published when we read the page.
What the rules say about tools and assets
- The engine: "All games should be created in the Unity Game Engine."
- Generative tools: "Generative AI may be used for any part of a submission, provided it is disclosed on the submission page. You must describe how it was used during your submission process. Failure to disclose the use of Generative AI in your submission will disqualify you from the prize categories."
- Judges score how art and audio fit together, not where they came from: "handmade, purchased, or generated all score the same way" (the Art & Audio Coherence criterion).
- Your submission page should include "a playable build, a short description, controls, a credit list for all assets, and your team members." For assets you did not make, "please confirm licensing and use limitations before use, and credit asset authors in your project."
- "All games should be original games that were not created prior to the event or during other game jams." The page does not say whether assets you made yourself before November 5 count; when in doubt, make game content during the jam and credit everything else.
- The game stands alone: "All necessary game files and builds for players to play your game MUST be a part of the game files on your itch page."
- For the prizes, "A WebGL build is required to be eligible."
- "Games files SHOULD NOT be updated in any form, either in engine or via servers managing games, after game jam ends and during judging period."
- The Official Rules were not out: the page said "See link for official rules: (link coming soon)". Read them when they appear; they may add to what is on this page.
What Cosindra makes for a Unity project today
Cosindra Desktop does not connect to the Unity editor; it works with Unreal Engine 5.7 and 5.8 only. In Unity, every Cosindra result reaches your project as a file you download and import. Three workspaces export for Unity:
- WorldWeaver: write a brief for the play space (Brief Check is free), generate the world for 6 credits, and choose Download, Unity. The pack's world.glb imports with Unity's glTFast package (com.unity.cloud.gltfast), and its optional Native folder adds an Editor menu that creates sculptable Unity terrain. The import guide has the steps.
- MaterialForge: describe a surface for 4 credits; adjusting its parameters afterwards is free. Download OpenGL maps for Unity, or a Unity HDRP set with a mask map.
- RigMaster: upload your humanoid GLB, place the 18 joint markers and get a rig for 15 credits, with 5 free polish rounds. The finished rig is converted on the server, at no credit cost, to a Mixamo-named FBX that Unity's Humanoid avatar maps. That download uses the same allowance as any other.
- Not for Unity: MotionSmith has no Unity export yet, BlueprintStudio writes Unreal Blueprint graphs only, and the desktop assistant runs in Unreal only.
Disclosing what you used
- WorldWeaver terrain and MaterialForge materials are generated. The rule asks you to disclose that on your submission page and describe how you used them, for example "terrain base from WorldWeaver, sculpted by hand in Unity".
- RigMaster fits a skeleton to your own mesh from markers you place; it does not make the mesh. The jam page does not say whether that counts as generative. Listing it costs nothing.
- Our Terms of Service say "You retain all rights to the content you create using Cosindra". You do not need to show the Cosindra name or logo in your game.
- The jam page asks you to follow Unity's brand guidelines if you use Unity's branding in your project.
If your team skips generated assets
The Unity jam allows generated assets with disclosure. If your team wants a game without them anyway, these parts of Cosindra work on what you already have and make no art for you:
- The free texture channel packer: no account, runs in your browser, nothing uploaded. It packs AO, roughness and metallic into a Unity HDRP mask map (R metallic, G AO, B detail mask, A smoothness) and flips a normal map's green channel between DirectX and OpenGL.
- RigMaster: it fits a skeleton to your own humanoid mesh from the joint markers you place, then converts it to an FBX for Unity's Humanoid avatar. 15 credits a rig.
- Our other two free tools are not for a Unity jam: the skeleton checker compares with the UE5 Manny skeleton, and the Steam capsule checker is for a Steam store page.
What is free and what costs credits
A new Cosindra account starts free with no card: eligible new accounts get 50 one-time signup credits, and the free Starter plan adds 30 credits every month, so the first month has 80 credits. That is the normal free start for everyone; we have no jam codes or extra credits to offer.
Starter includes one free download, shared across products, and in Unity every result is a download, so on the free plan one Cosindra result reaches your Unity project. Generate and compare in the browser, then download what you will ship. More downloads come with a paid plan (from $9.99 a month for 150 credits) or a one-time credit pack ($5 for 50 credits, $10 for 100 or $20 for 200), whose credits never expire and which opens downloads for 15 to 30 days.
| Tool | Credits each | What 80 credits buy | For Unity |
|---|---|---|---|
| WorldWeaver | 6 | 13 worlds | GLB pack for glTFast, optional native terrain |
| MaterialForge | 4 | 20 materials | OpenGL maps, or an HDRP set with a mask map |
| RigMaster | 15 | 5 rigs | Mixamo-named FBX for the Humanoid avatar |
Honest limits
- No Cosindra product connects to the Unity editor today. Results arrive as downloads you import yourself.
- RigMaster rigs humanoids only. A WorldWeaver GLB is mesh terrain; add collision, lighting and a camera yourself, as the import guide says.
- Generated results are a fast first version. Judges score theme, design, art and audio coherence, and concept; playtest and fix by hand.
- Cosindra is not a sponsor or partner of the Unity jam, and there are no jam codes or extra credits.
