IDE extension
Cosindra for VS Code & Cursor
Drive your open Unreal Engine editor from the AI agent you already use. 300+ editor tools over the Model Context Protocol, installed from your editor’s marketplace, running entirely on your machine.
Version 0.1.0 · Windows x64 and Apple Silicon macOS · Unreal Engine 5.7–5.8 · Free to install
Three steps, no terminal required
01
Install and sign in
Install from your editor's marketplace and sign in from the Cosindra panel. Signing in downloads the local server for your platform.
02
Set up your project
The extension finds your .uproject, installs the prebuilt CosindraMCP plugin for its engine version and offers to open the editor. No compiler.
03
Ask your agent
Copilot, Cursor's agent, Claude Code or Codex gets 300+ editor tools and works in your open level while you watch.
Pick your editor
The same extension, two stores. Each page walks through install, sign-in, project set-up and how that editor’s agent gets the tools.
Desktop app or extension?
Both drive the same plugin through the same local server. The difference is where you type.
| Desktop app | IDE extension | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you work | Cosindra's own chat window | Your editor's agent panel or a terminal agent |
| AI models | Built-in models, or your own keys on BYOK | Whatever your agent already uses |
| Unreal plugin | Installed for you | Installed for you |
| Local server | Started by the app | Started by the extension |
| Both at once | Shares one server and one editor session | Shares one server and one editor session |
| Price | Free app; plans add credits | Free extension; external agents need a plan or the trial |

What your agent can do in the editor
The tools are the same 300+ the desktop app uses: spawning and configuring actors, building and compiling Blueprint graphs, materials and material instances, Enhanced Input, UMG widgets, animation set-up, Play-In-Editor control and Output Log reading. Every call executes live in your open editor, and the result is visible immediately.

Which editors are supported?
VS Code (from the Visual Studio Marketplace) and Cursor (from Open VSX), on Windows x64 and Apple Silicon macOS. Other editors that install from Open VSX, such as Windsurf and VSCodium, can install it too.
Which AI agents can use it?
The editor's own agent: GitHub Copilot agent mode in VS Code, Cursor's agent in Cursor. Plus terminal agents: Claude Code and Codex, connected with one command from the panel.
Do I need the desktop app?
No. The extension is a standalone client of the same local server. If you use both, they share one server and one editor session.
What happens on my machine?
The extension downloads a small local server into the Cosindra data folder, installs the prebuilt CosindraMCP plugin into your project's Plugins folder, and registers the server with your editor. Your project's contents never leave the machine. The server reports aggregate tool-call counts to your account for plan limits, and the extension reports a few set-up and failure events (versions, operating system, error code) following your editor's telemetry setting — never file paths, prompts or project contents.
Is it free?
Installing the extension is free. Driving Unreal from an external AI agent needs a paid plan or the ten-day trial that every new account gets without a card.
Which Unreal Engine versions?
Unreal Engine 5.7 and 5.8. The plugin is prebuilt per engine version, so Blueprint-only projects work as-is and C++ projects build without touching the plugin.
