AccuRIG to UE5: get an AccuRIG character playing Manny animations
By the Cosindra team · Updated October 31, 2026
AccuRIG, Reallusion's free auto-rigger, rigs a humanoid to its own skeleton rather than the UE5 Manny skeleton, so Manny and Quinn animations need one more step before they play on an AccuRIG character. Export the character as FBX, import it into UE5 as a new skeleton, then retarget the Manny animations you need with the IK Retargeter, which keeps AccuRIG's skin weights. If you would rather skip retargeting, rig the same mesh straight to the Manny skeleton, for example with RigMaster (15 credits a rig).
AccuRIG facts come from Reallusion's own pages, read on October 31, 2026 and listed under Sources. We build RigMaster, so weigh what we say about it with that in mind.
What AccuRIG gives you
- A free desktop auto-rigger. Reallusion says it takes low to high density meshes and multiple meshes in an A or T pose; the free version imports multiple meshes but cannot rig them separately.
- Refinement by hand: adjustable shoulders, neck and finger joints, a different number of fingers per hand, and pose offsets for stylized proportions.
- Exports: FBX and USD, with Unreal Engine, Unity, Blender, Maya and others named as targets.
- Animation: a rigged character can go to ActorCore, Reallusion's motion store.
- Not in the free version, per Reallusion's comparison table: generating bones, editing skin weights, a facial rig and mesh reduction. Those are in Character Creator 4.1.
Why an AccuRIG rig does not play Manny animations as is
An Unreal animation belongs to a skeleton asset: its bone names, hierarchy and rest orientations. The UE5 Manny skeleton has 89 bones, including five spine bones, two neck bones, paired twist bones on every limb, finger metacarpals and IK helper bones. AccuRIG's skeleton is a different one as far as Unreal is concerned, so Manny clips need retargeting onto it.
The quick test for any rig: import the FBX choosing the project's SK_Mannequin as the skeleton. If the importer refuses that skeleton, or a Manny clip twists the arms, it is not Manny-compatible.
- Free UE5 skeleton checker: drop the AccuRIG FBX to see its bones against Manny's before you open Unreal; nothing is uploaded
Route 1: keep the AccuRIG rig and retarget in UE5
- Export the rigged character from AccuRIG as FBX.
- Import the FBX into UE5 and let the importer create a new skeleton. Compare the height with the default mannequin and fix the import scale on your first character.
- Right-click a Manny animation in the Content Browser, choose Retarget Animation Assets and set the AccuRIG character as the target mesh. Unreal can generate the retargeter for you.
- Preview a walk and something with arm swing. If the arms or fingers are off, save the generated IK Rigs and IK Retargeter with Export Retarget Assets and fix the chains and the retarget pose by hand.
- Select the animations you need and export them to a folder of their own with a prefix. Repeat for every new pack you adopt.
Route 2: rig the mesh to the Manny skeleton with RigMaster
- Take the mesh you gave AccuRIG, before rigging, and export it as GLB or glTF (up to 100 MB).
- Upload it to RigMaster and place the 18 joint markers, or press Suggest markers and check each one.
- Pick 5, 4 or 3 fingers or Mitten for each hand.
- Rig it for 15 credits. Each rig includes 5 free polish rounds.
- Import the FBX into UE5 choosing the project's SK_Mannequin as the skeleton and assign any Manny or Quinn animation, or use Apply in UE5 with the free desktop app.
AccuRIG plus retargeting, or RigMaster: compared
| AccuRIG + IK Retargeter | RigMaster | |
|---|---|---|
| Skeleton in UE5 | AccuRIG's own | UE5 Manny, 89 bones |
| Manny, Quinn and Fab mannequin packs | Play after retargeting each set | Play directly |
| Skin weights | AccuRIG's | RigMaster's |
| Fingers | Adjustable joints, any number of fingers | 5, 4 or 3 fingers or Mitten, per hand |
| Animation library | ActorCore, sold separately | None of its own; Manny packs and MotionSmith motions play on it |
| Runs in | Desktop app, then UE5 | Browser, then UE5 |
| Cost | Free; your time for retargeting | 15 credits a rig, 5 polish rounds included |

Honest limits
- AccuRIG and RigMaster both rig humanoids. Neither repairs bad input: fused limbs, holes and a mid-pose mesh rig badly in both.
- RigMaster has no animation library of its own; Manny packs and MotionSmith motions play on its rig. If ActorCore's motions are what you want, keep AccuRIG's rig.
- A hand that fuses its fingers moves as one block whatever rigs it; RigMaster rigs such a hand as a mitten that bends at the wrist.
- Reallusion's features change. The facts here are from its pages on the date above.

Frequently asked questions
Does AccuRIG export to the UE5 Manny skeleton?
No. AccuRIG rigs to its own skeleton, so Manny and Quinn animations play on an AccuRIG character after a retarget in UE5. Import its FBX onto SK_Mannequin to see for yourself: the importer will not accept it as that skeleton.
Is AccuRIG free?
Yes. Reallusion offers AccuRIG free as of October 31, 2026; ActorCore, its motion store, is separate, and features such as editing skin weights and a facial rig are in Character Creator 4.1.
AccuRIG or Mixamo for Unreal Engine 5?
Both are free and both rig to their own skeleton, so either needs an IK Retargeter pass before Manny and Quinn animations play. AccuRIG is a desktop app with adjustable hands and fingers; Mixamo runs in the browser and has a large free animation library. Our AccuRIG vs Mixamo vs RigMaster page compares them in detail.
Can I keep AccuRIG's skin weights and still use Manny animations?
Yes, with the retargeting route: the character keeps AccuRIG's skeleton and weights, and Manny animations are retargeted onto it. Rigging the mesh to the Manny skeleton instead gives you new weights on Manny's bones.
Is Cosindra free, and what does RigMaster cost?
Yes, you can start free with no card. The Starter plan gives 30 credits every month, and eligible new accounts also get 50 one-time signup credits. A rig costs 15 credits and includes 5 free polish rounds, so the 80 credits of a new account's first month cover 5 rigs. Starter includes one free download, shared across products, and Apply in UE5 through the free desktop app is never download-locked. More downloads come with a paid plan (from $9.99 a month for 150 credits) or a one-time credit pack ($5 for 50 credits, $10 for 100 or $20 for 200), whose credits never expire and which opens downloads for 15 to 30 days. The face rig is a paid-plan feature.
