What MotionSmith costs

A prompt costs 5 credits and makes 4 takes. A generation that fails gives its credits back, and watching the gallery is always free.

Monthly prices; yearly plans cost less. Credits are one wallet across Cosindra, so a plan's prompts count all of its credits going to MotionSmith. See every plan

Every prompt gives you

  • 4 takes of your sentence, 3, 4, 6, 8 or 10 seconds each, to compare before you download
  • An FBX for Unreal on SK_Mannequin with root motion and the IK bones, a GLB for Blender and Godot (in place or with the travel), and a BVH
  • Hands posed from your prompt and the take, or a pose you pick for each hand
  • Contact fixed: hands kept out of the body, palms and feet on the floor
  • Your own character: upload a GLB, glTF, VRM or FBX and every take plays and exports on its skeleton

Free to start

Starter is free: 50 credits when you sign up and 30 every month, enough for 16 prompts in your first month and 6 a month after. No card.

10 gallery motions download free with a free account, and so does the first of your own generations, every take and every format. The rest of the gallery, and your later generations, download on paid plans. See the free animations

MotionSmith: text to character animation for Unreal Engine

Describe a motion and get four takes to choose from. Each one plays on the Unreal Engine 5 Manny skeleton with root motion and planted feet, and on your own character right next to it, so you see how it will look in your game before you download anything.

Start from the gallery of ready-made motions, or bring a character rigged in RigMaster and its takes are ready to import as they are.

10 of the gallery motions download free with a free account: free UE5 animations on the Manny skeleton, as FBX with root motion, GLB or BVH.

How it works

  1. Describe it. One sentence about how the character moves, and a length of 3, 4, 6, 8 or 10 seconds.
  2. Pick a take. Compare four takes on the base body and on your character; the timeline shows where each foot is planted.
  3. Take it into your engine. An FBX for Unreal with root motion, a GLB for Blender and Godot, or a BVH.

Frequently asked questions

Which engines and tools does it export to?

Unreal Engine 5 as an FBX on the Manny skeleton, with root motion and the IK bones set. Blender and Godot as a GLB. The motion data as a BVH on its SOMA-77 skeleton, with hands, before the contact fixes the FBX and GLB carry. Unity comes later.

Can I use my own character?

Yes. Upload a GLB, glTF, VRM or FBX and every take plays on it next to the base body. MotionSmith tells you how well its skeleton fits; a character without a usable skeleton can be rigged in RigMaster.

Is Cosindra free, and what does MotionSmith cost?

Yes, you can start free with no card. The Starter plan gives 30 credits every month, and eligible new accounts also get 50 one-time signup credits. Watching the gallery is free, and 10 gallery motions download free with any account. A prompt costs 5 credits for all 4 takes and a failed one is refunded, so the 80 credits of a new account's first month cover 16 prompts. On Starter, the first of your own generations you download is free. More downloads come with a paid plan (from $9.99 a month for 150 credits) or a one-time credit pack ($5 for 50 credits, $10 for 100 or $20 for 200), whose credits never expire and which opens downloads for 15 to 30 days. On paid plans a prompt costs from $0.29, and downloads are included.

Who owns the motions?

You do. The motions are made by NVIDIA Kimodo, released under the NVIDIA Open Model License, which allows commercial use.

How long does a generation take?

About 30 seconds for a take of up to 6 seconds while a GPU is running; a 10-second take about a minute, and a sequence of several steps a few minutes. If no GPU is running, your prompt starts one first, which takes up to 3 minutes, and the page shows the wait. When others are generating, yours waits its turn and the page shows its place in line. You can leave the page; your motions wait for you.

How long are my motions kept?

A motion you generate is kept for 24 hours. Save it to keep it in your account for good; your account page lists it under MotionSmith. We email you a few hours before an unsaved one is deleted. The files you download are yours to keep.

Can I make a longer motion, follow a path or continue a take?

Yes. Add steps to make a sequence of up to 5 prompts, 30 seconds in all, each step 5 credits. Draw a path on the floor for the character to walk, at no extra cost. Or continue a take: your next prompt starts from its last frames. The takes of every new generation come back ranked by how well they match your words, best match first.

What should I write?

One character's body motion, in English, up to 300 characters: for example, "A tired soldier limps forward, favouring the left leg". Choose 3, 4, 6, 8 or 10 seconds.
