Is your model ready to rig? Check an unrigged GLB first

Drop an unrigged character as a GLB or glTF and this free checker tells you whether it is ready to rig, using the checks RigMaster makes: the file itself, the mesh density, the height, the rest pose, the facing and the separate pieces. Each check passes, warns or fails, with one sentence on what to do. No account needed.

Drop your character's GLB or glTF here

An unrigged humanoid mesh, as RigMaster takes it: a .glb, or a .gltf with its data embedded, up to 100 MB.

Your file stays on your device: it is read in this browser tab and never uploaded.

What it checks

  • The file: a .glb or .gltf, at most 100 MB, with every buffer and texture inside it (RigMaster's upload refuses anything else).
  • Compression: meshopt is fine (RigMaster unpacks it on upload) and so is Draco; KTX2 textures and any other required extension the importer cannot read fail, named.
  • Textures: at most 8,192 pixels on a side, in a format whose size can be read, within the total RigMaster takes.
  • Mesh density: the vertex and triangle counts against RigMaster's size budget, with the wait RigMaster itself estimates for the rig.
  • An existing rig: whether the file already has a skin, and what RigMaster does with it.
  • Height and up axis: standing along +Y, and between 30 cm and 5 m tall, where a file outside that range is usually in the wrong unit.
  • Rest pose: whether the arms are held away from the body, as in an A-pose or T-pose. An estimate from the mesh outline.
  • Facing: whether the feet point to the front (+Z). An estimate, read the way RigMaster reads the feet.
  • Separate pieces: how many disconnected parts the mesh has, since RigMaster binds each one whole to a single bone.

It checks the file, not the rig: no check here can promise how the rig will turn out, and the pose, facing and piece readings are estimates. It is for humanoid characters, the kind RigMaster rigs; it does not try to tell a person from a creature.

Questions

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file is read by this page in your browser tab and is never sent anywhere. If you accepted analytics, the page counts the file's format, the verdict and how many checks failed or warned, never the file name. If you then press "Rig it in RigMaster", the file is kept in this browser and uploads only once RigMaster opens.

How do I prepare a model for rigging?

For RigMaster: export one .glb of at most 100 MB with the textures embedded, standing along +Y and facing +Z (in Blender: facing -Y, then File, Export, glTF 2.0), between 30 cm and 5 m tall, with the arms held away from the body. Join parts that should bend, such as sleeves, to the body. The checker shows which of these your file already meets.

Does my model need to be in a T-pose?

No. RigMaster rigs to the UE5 Manny skeleton, whose rest pose is an A-pose, and its Pose correction (on by default) turns a T-pose into it. What matters more is that the arms do not touch the torso: re-posing arms that press against the body can tear the surface, and then RigMaster keeps the authored pose.

My model is already rigged. Can I still use it?

Yes. RigMaster still rigs it to the UE5 Manny skeleton: a skin with Mixamo or UE5 bone names is carried over onto Manny's bones, and any other gets new weights. To see which skeleton the file has now, use the free UE5 skeleton checker.

Why would RigMaster refuse my model?

For the reasons this page marks as failed: a file that is not .glb or .gltf, over 100 MB, pointing at textures or buffers outside itself, compressed in a way its importer cannot read (such as KTX2 textures), or with textures over 8,192 pixels on a side. Warnings never stop the upload.

What does a rig in RigMaster cost?

Checking a file here is free. A rig in RigMaster costs 15 credits, charged only when you start it, and eligible new accounts get 50 free signup credits. "Rig it in RigMaster" keeps your file in this browser for up to 60 minutes while you sign up, so you do not have to choose it again.
