Cosindra for Cursor
Extension 0.1.0 · Unreal Engine 5.7–5.8 · Last updated 2026-09-07
The Cosindra extension lets Cursor's agent work inside your open Unreal Engine editor: spawn and configure actors, build Blueprint graphs, create materials, wire Enhanced Input and UMG, control PIE and read the Output Log. Cursor installs it from Open VSX, the registry Cursor's extension search uses.
Everything runs locally. The extension starts a small local server on your machine, installs the prebuilt CosindraMCP plugin into your project, and hands Cursor an MCP server entry pointing at that server.
Install in Cursor
Open VSX Registry · namespace cosindra · also in Cursor's Extensions search. Free to install.
Set-up, step by step
- 01
Install the extension
Open Cursor's Extensions view and search for "Cosindra", or use the Open VSX button above. A Cosindra icon appears in the activity bar.
- 02
Sign in
Open the Cosindra panel and sign in, by password or with Google or GitHub. Signing in downloads the local server for your platform.
- 03
Set up your project
Click Set up project. The extension finds your .uproject, installs the prebuilt plugin for its engine version and offers to open the editor. No compiler needed.
- 04
Add the MCP server to Cursor
Click Add MCP Server to Cursor. Cursor opens its own install dialog showing exactly what will be added; confirm it once. Then ask Cursor's agent for something in your open level.
How Cursor's agent gets the tools
Cursor does not have VS Code's API for extensions to register MCP servers, so Cosindra uses Cursor's own install link instead. The panel's Add MCP Server to Cursor action opens Cursor's confirmation dialog with the server entry prefilled. You see the command before it is saved, and Cursor keeps the entry in its MCP settings.
If you prefer a file, the same action can write the entry into ~/.cursor/mcp.json for you, after asking. The entry points at a launcher command that never changes, so the local server can restart or move ports without Cursor noticing.
Claude Code and Codex read their own configuration. Use Connect Claude Code or Codex in the panel: it offers to write the project's .mcp.json for Claude Code, or shows the exact entry for Codex.
What the agent can do once connected
The same 300+ editor tools the Cosindra desktop app uses: actors and components, Blueprint graphs and compilation, materials, Enhanced Input, UMG, animation set-up, Play-In-Editor control and Output Log reading. Calls execute live in your open editor.

Common questions
Why is it not in the Visual Studio Marketplace search inside Cursor?
Cursor's extension search uses Open VSX, not Microsoft's Marketplace. Search for "Cosindra" in Cursor's Extensions view, or open the Open VSX page and click Install.
Does the Cursor agent need any manual configuration?
No. Add MCP Server to Cursor opens Cursor's own dialog with the entry filled in. If you want to see or edit the entry, Cursor's MCP settings show it.
Do I need the Cosindra desktop app as well?
No. The extension runs the same local server the desktop app runs. Installed side by side, they share one server and one editor session.
Is the extension free?
Installing it is free. Driving Unreal from an external AI agent needs a paid plan or the ten-day trial every new account gets without a card.
Something not connecting? The extension docs cover where files go, how to read the Cosindra output channel and what to send us.
